Lloyd “Peewee” Chris Scherf, Backus, Minnesota formerly of St. Olaf, Iowa and Harpers Ferry, Iowa, October 14, 2024

Lloyd “Peewee” Chris Scherf, 80 of Backus, Minnesota formerly of St. Olaf, Iowa and Harpers Ferry, Iowa passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at Essential Health Hospital in Brainard, Minnesota. Lloyd was born October 2, 1944 to William and Viola (Tackman) Scherf. He attended and completed the 12th grade at MFL.

On December 21, 1963 Lloyd was united in marriage with JoAnn Alice Wagner at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. To this union five children were born. They lived in St. Olaf from 1967 until 1987. Then they moved to Harpers Ferry and owned and operated J&L One Stop for five years and The Harbor House for twelve years. After selling the businesses, Lloyd went to work for Cabelas as a Grounds Manager.

Lloyd worked hard, played hard and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, refinishing furniture and going on Sunday drives. His greatest joy was spending time with his family that he loved very much.

Surviving Lloyd are his children, Teresa (Dennis) Doeppke of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Chris (Ann) Scherf of Marion, Iowa, Diane Walden of Colona, Illinois and Joel (Kelsey) Scherf of Backus, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren with two on the way; and his siblings, Marlene Glawe, William Scherf II and Vernelda “Tootie” Van Note.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Noordhoek; his parents, William and Viola Scherf; wife, JoAnn Scherf; and his brothers, Loren Scherf and Eldean Scherf.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa with Pastor Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant.

Burial will follow at the Garnavillo Cemetery in Garnavillo, Iowa.
