Avis Josephine Ruroden, 97 from the West Union area passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Cedar Vale Assisted Living in Nashua, Iowa.
Avis was born June 21, 1927 to Arthur “Pete” and Mildred (Wentworth) Musser in Auburn, Iowa.
On April 11, 1944, Avis was united in marriage with Floyd Ruroden. Nine children were born to this union. Avis was a hard-working, wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. Together with Floyd, they farmed for a number of years where Avis was actively involved in the farming. She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church at the time of her passing. One of Avis’ greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Avis are eight of her children, Robert Ruroden of Auburn, Iowa, Larry (Beth) Ruroden of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Danny (Jodi Green) Ruroden of Austin, Minnesota, Michael Ruroden of Rock Island, Illinois, Connie (Chris) Bunch of Dayton, Minnesota, Debra (Jerry Nagel) Kilcoyne of Cresco, Iowa, Gail Panos of New Hampton, Iowa and Sheila (Klel Harris) McKenna of Chaska, Minnesota; son-in-law, Dean Foster of Riceville, Iowa; twenty-six grandchildren; many great grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Ruroden; daughter, Norma (Kulish) Foster; son-in-law, David Kulish; daughter-in-law, Dixie Ruroden; grandsons, Douglas Ruroden, Jeremy Kilcoyne and Zach Ruroden; her siblings, Robert Musser, Wayne Musser, Doris Thompson and Shirley Paige.
The family of Avis would like to thank the staff at Cedar Vale Assisted Living for the wonderful care and friendship and also to St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa with Rev. Terry Landsgaard as the officiant.
Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa.
