Nancy Ruth (Griffith) Kuehl, beloved mother of three children – passed away at the Elkader Care Center on the early morning of January 30, 2025, after battling Alzheimer’s. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by her family. Nancy was born June 8, 1947, in Elkader, Iowa to Harold and Louise (Mather) Griffith.
She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, Nancy attended Patricia Stevens Career College, in Milwaukee, WI for two years, majoring in Fashion Design. She worked at Younkers in Cedar Rapids for a time.
Nancy was united in marriage to Gary Kuehl on June 26, 1968, at the Congregational Church in Elkader. Three children were born to this union. Nancy and Gary operated a dairy farm near Arlington, Iowa for years before returning to Elkader in 1986.
In 2020, Nancy retired after working for 32 years and for a number of years at Erickson Pump Service/Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance, Elkader and Assisted Living in Waukon.
Nancy and Gary were active members at Peace United Church of Christ. Nancy enjoyed joining her friends in PEO and was an active member of the Peace United Church of Christ Choir.
She loved her flowers and her many flower beds. She took a lot of pride in caring for them.
Nancy’s friendly personality and kindness to all will be a legacy for her family to carry on.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Kuehl; brother, Robert Griffith (Gina Dahlstrom), brother, John (Julie) Griffith, son, Tim (Dana) Kuehl, granddaughter, Callie (Caleb) Davidson; grandson, Brady (Madeline), Kuehl; great-granddaughter, Cecelia Kuehl; granddaughters Saari Kuehl and Ashton Hughes; great-granddaughter, Riley Townsend; grandson, Mason Hughes; daughter, Rachel (Darrell) Jaster; granddaughter, McKenna Jaster; grandson, Collin Jaster; daughter-in-law, Beth Kuehl; grandsons, Luke and Ayden Kuehl, sister-in-law, Judy Koth; a number of nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a multitude of friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Louise Griffith; son, Paul Kuehl, father-in-law, LaVern Kuehl; mother-in-law, Cora Mae Kuehl; brother-in-law, Keith Koth; aunt, Patricia Breitsprecher, and sister-in-law, Jane Griffith.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, with a Visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader with Rev. Paula Anderson officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at East Side Cemetery in Elkader.
