LaVonne Rosina (Guyer) Bemiss, 76 of Oelwein, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at her home. LaVonne Rosina was born March 20, 1949 to Lawrence and Rosina (Meyer) Guyer in Decorah, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church. LaVonne attending Dover Country School #6 until the eighth grade, and graduated from North High School in 1968. LaVonne continued her education at NICC and earned her Nursing Degree.
Throughout the years, LaVonne worked at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Oelwein Care Center in Oelwein and with Good Sam in West Union. She was married to Kurtis Bemiss and one son was born to this union. They later divorced. LaVonne enjoyed bowling, working and spending time with her dog, Skittles.
Surviving LaVonne are her son, Graig Bemiss of Oelwein, Iowa; siblings, Leona (Bill) Harris of Postville, Iowa, James (Ellen) Guyer of West Union, Iowa and her twin sister LaVanda (Jim) Meyer of West Union, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding LaVonne is death were her parents, Lawrence and Rosina Guyer; siblings, Gaylord (Kathy) Guyer and Mary Jacobsen; niece, Elizabeth Meyer; and mother-in-law, Betty Bemiss.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home in West Union, Iowa.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Union, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
