James “Jim” Dennler, 74, of Elgin, Iowa died Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa. He was born March 16, 1951 to Leo and Mary (Goodin) Dennler in Postville, Iowa.
Jim often told stories of spending time at his grandparent’s filling station at the corner near the Methodist Church in Elgin. He spent many years helping the janitors at the Elgin and Valley Schools, working for area farmers baling hay, working hogs and helping haul cream and corn. Jim operated a successful lawn mowing and snow moving business with his much-loved John Deere Tractor.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in Elgin. He was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Often you could see him riding his bike or mower around town, with a wave or a teasing comment to share. Jim was a life-long member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was involved with changing banners, ushering and moving tables and chairs.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; sister, Linda and two siblings at infancy.
A Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Iowa with Rev. HyeunMee Kang as the Officiant.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa.
