Terry Wayne Ferguson, Marquette, Iowa, June 7, 2025

Terry Wayne Ferguson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away on June 7th, 2025. Terry was born on December 4, 1944, to Thelma and Wayne Ferguson in McGregor, Iowa.

On July 3, 1965, he married the love of his life, Rinda (Hedeman). Together they raised two adventurous and determined children, eventually becoming proud grandparents to five and great-grandparents to nine. Over the course of their 59-year marriage, Terry and Rinda shared countless simple joys-quiet moments on the porch and by the fireplace, fishing & hunting trips, family vacations, and cherished visits to North Carolina to spend time with their newest grandchildren. Their life together was marked by a deep and steady love, the kind that turns ordinary days into lifelong memories.

Terry never missed a family gathering. He found great joy in teaching his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren to fish and appreciate the outdoors as deeply as he did. He was a loyal presence at their sporting events, known for his honest, thoughtful feedback, always encouraging, sometimes humbling, and always shared with love. He also loved cheering on the Duke Blue Devils and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

An avid outdoorsman (1st squirrel at 5), Terry was most at home on the Mississippi River, reeling in walleye and earning the nickname “Catfish.” His legendary fishing stories were backed by photos of real trophy catches-though the locations remained a well-kept secret. He also loved turkey, elk and white-tailed deer hunting and was affectionately known at deer camp as “Top Gun,” a title earned through years of successful hunts and impressive bucks. He passed along his love of the outdoors to the next generation with patience, humor, and pride.

Terry was a dedicated employee of 3M for 33 years, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers through his hard work, dependability, and quiet strength of character.

Above all, Terry will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his deep appreciation for life’s simplest pleasures, and his lasting legacy of kindness, humility, and joy.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rinda; his children, Curt (Tahra) Ferguson and Kym Ferguson; grandchildren Chelsi (Sheldon) Converse, Kayla (Winston) Harris, Jacob (Erin) Ferguson, Crew Ferguson, and Lennon Ferguson; and great-grandchildren Ashdon, Cade, and Kitt Converse; Peyton, William, and Shelby Harris; Olivia Blietz, Barron, and Briggs Ferguson.

He is also survived by his siblings: Trudy Hackett, Vicki (Terry) Seeley, Mark (Deb) Ferguson, Bruce Ferguson, and Brian Ferguson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Wayne Ferguson, 4 brothers in law Don Hackett, Richard Dohse, Kevin Hedeman, Terry Hedeman and 3 Nephews Jamie Hackett, Brent Hackett, and Christian Dohse.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
