Marie Albertha Noordhoek, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, July 23, 2025

Marie Albertha Noordhoek, born on November 8, 1942, in Sioux Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 23, 2025. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and community will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

On May 15, 1959, in Hull, Iowa, Marie married the love of her life, Leon Noordhoek. Together, they built a life centered on faith, hard work, and family, sharing many years of love and partnership.

Marie lived a life marked by quiet strength and kindness. She found joy in serving others, caring for her home, and creating a warm, welcoming space for family and friends. Her words of comfort, warm smile, and gracious presence were a blessing to many, and her faith guided her through each season of life with grace.

Her passion in life was dogs, specifically poodles, who brought her companionship, laughter, and comfort throughout her years. She owned and operated a dog grooming business for 50 years, caring for countless dogs and building lifelong friendships with her clients. Marie also dedicated herself to serving her community as a member of the Prairie du Chien EMS for 10 years, offering care and compassion to those in need during times of crisis. Additionally, she served as a CMA/CNA for 15 years, caring for the sick and elderly with gentleness and respect, providing comfort and dignity to those in her care.

Marie was preceded in death by her father, William Van Goudswaard, and her mother, Nellie Klarenbeek.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Noordhoek; children, Michael Noordhoek (Joanna), Mark Noordhoek, Leisa Stoddard (Keith), and Leanne Noordhoek. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Bobby Rodenberg (Gregory), Jason Stoddard (Lori), Nichole Brownlee (Jamie), Brandon Noordhoek (Cheyenne), Aaron Stoddard (Tabatha), Nathan Noordhoek (Samantha), Elizabeth Starrett (Nick), Travis Noordhoek, Alexander Weber (Brandi), Christopher Starrett (Samantha), and Monique Robson (Jed).

Marie’s legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Blakelee, Carlie Jo, Skylar, Anna, Carter, Marcus, Tristan, Grayson, Dawson, Lakelyn, Hannah, Chase, Drake, Bailee, Landon, Christian, Ryan, Lainey, Emily, Alice, Stella, and Brantley, each of whom brought her immense joy.

A ceremony to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home, 118 N Wacouta Ave, Prairie du Chien, WI, on July 28, 2025. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 pm, services will be held at 2:00 pm.  Family and friends are invited to join in remembrance, sharing stories and honoring the love she so generously gave.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Though she is no longer with us, Marie’s spirit remains a light in our lives, reminding us of the beauty of faith, family, service, and a life well lived.
