Kent Dean Klingman, 61, of Volga, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at Mercy One in Waterloo. He was born August 2, 1964, in Vinton, to Lyle and Karon (Buhr) Klingman.
Kent attended Central Community School, graduating with the Class of 1983. During high school, he worked for Jim and Marilyn Miller at Spring Valley Ranch just outside of Volga. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany as an M.P. Upon discharge, he went on to Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, where he graduated with a truck driver degree. Kent worked for various trucking companies during his career; he loved crossing the states on the open road. He worked until January of 2018, when he retired from driving.
On August 19, 2006, he married Jennifer Richmond of Strawberry Point, Iowa. The couple later divorced.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga.
Kent had several hobbies, including fishing and hunting–and processing the meat himself, watching sci-fi, western and action movies, playing video games, and making custom fishing poles.
Survivors include his son, Chad Hannan of Volga; sister, Rhonda (Craig) Fry of Volga; aunts and uncles, Charles and Norma Graybill, Gary and Nancy Klingman, John Buhr, Marlene and Michael Grimm, and Doreen and Daryl Forbes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Karon; aunts Linda McClusky and Mary Buhr and uncle, Dennis Klingman.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Clayton County Pheasants Forever Chapter or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Volga.
Visitation: Monday, November 3, 2025 – 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga
Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen will officiate.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family.
