Elaine Sophia Elsie (Drahn) Possehl of Monona, Iowa died December 3, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born October 5, 1933 to Walter and Elsie (Kliefoth) Drahn, baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. She graduated from Monona High School in 1951. She then was employed by N. W. Bell Telephone Co.

Elaine was united in marriage with William (Bill) Possehl February 8, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. They were married for 70 years. To this union two children were born, Wendy and Steven.

Elaine worked at Union State Bank of Monona for 26 years, was an active member of St. Paul Church teaching Sunday School, Luther League sponsor, circle officer and singing in choir. Activities Elaine enjoyed included gardening and flowers, boating, golfing, dancing, playing bridge and sports. She was a member of the 1951 Monona Girl’s State Basketball team. As a member of TriCity Golf Course, she had three “hole-in-ones”. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband to Hawaii, Germany and Switzerland. They spent 19 winters in Texas. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them. Holidays were always special occasions.

Elaine Possehl is survived by daughter, Wendy (Scott) Evert of Holmen, Wisconsin and son, Steven (Emma) Possehl of Princeton, Iowa; grandchildren, Heather Evert (Andrew Shallue) of Bloomington, Illinois, Brian (Megan) Evert of Edmonds, Washington, Dennis (Carrie) Evert of Edina, Minnesota, Paul (Mallory) Possehl of Camanche, Iowa and Joel Possehl of Princeton, Iowa; great grandchildren, Adelyn and Cameron Evert, Etta and Ellis Evert, Lena and Raelyn Possehl; sister, Dolores Olds of Monona; sisters-in-law, Amber Possehl, Janice Possehl, Donna Possehl, Joyce Drahn, Carolyn Drahn and brother-in-law, John Moderwell.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Leola, Georgene and Sharon; brothers, Robert, Keith and William, and Bill’s brothers, Rollin, Floyd, and Rudy.

A Visitation will be held from 10;00 am-11:00 am with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or a non-profit of your choice.
