George Tieskoetter, 69 of Ossian Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday January 31, 2026. George was born on January 10 1957 to Frank and Marie (Gossling) Tieskoetter in Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School with the class of 1975.
George lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and an appreciation for time spent with others. George worked alongside his brother Larry for many years on the family farm, a partnership he took great pride in. He also enjoyed a long career as a grain hauler, a line of work he truly liked and one that fit his independent nature and strong work ethic. At the age of 19, George survived an accident while helping build a silo when the scaffolding broke causing him to fall 80 feet. His survival and recovery became a testament to his strength, determination, and grit-qualities that defined him throughout his life.
In his free time, George enjoyed friendly competition and good company. He loved playing pool and darts and was always up for a game of cribbage, especially when it meant sharing laughs with family and friends. He will also be fondly remembered for his wonderful, unforgettable laugh, which could light up any room.
Surviving George are his siblings, Larry (Bernadine) Tieskoetter of Ossian Iowa, Elaine (Ron) Holthaus of Ossian Iowa, Laura (Faron) Bindert of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Mary (Rick) Springsteen of Lisbon, Iowa and Frank Tieskoetter of Ossian Iowa, many nieces, and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who will remember him for his perseverance, steady presence, and the warmth he brought to everyday moments.
