Judy Ann Stahl, age 71, of Postville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader, Iowa. She was born in Postville on February 15, 1955, to Forrest and JoAnn (Lauer) Monroe. Raised in rural northeast Iowa, she loved to share stories of her time growing up on the farm. Judy attended MFL High School and went on to work for Norplex in Postville for many years.
Judy had a deep love for her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She had a lifelong appreciation for the natural world and enjoyed hiking in the local area as well as traveling across the country to take in new sights. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dogs.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Jill (AJ) Austin of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and her siblings, Peggy (Tony) Webb of Garnavillo, Iowa, Kevin (Jan) Monroe of Elkader, Iowa, Brian (Lynn) Monroe of Postville, Iowa, Paul (Kelly) Monroe of Ferryville, Wisconsin and Brent (Melissa) Monroe of Urbandale, Iowa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and JoAnn Monroe.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12: 00 pm with a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home in Ossian, Iowa. Pastor Daryl Schultz will be the officiant.
Inurnment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Castalia, Iowa.
