Robert Duane Mezera, 83 of Jesup, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 at MercyOne in Waterloo, Iowa. Robert was born August 6, 1942 to Vincent and Emma (Bouzek) Mezera in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated high school with the class of 1960 from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
On September 15, 1962, Robert married Joan Ames; together they raised three children. Robert was proud of his career with Consolidated Freightways, spending 30+ years safely transporting goods and supporting his family. He loved woodworking and fishing, enjoyed time at their park model at Big River, socializing at the Eagles Club, and, most especially, traveling and taking road trips with Joan—creating many cherished memories together.
Surviving Robert is his wife, Joan Mezera of Jesup, Iowa; children, Lori (Dan) Romo of Arkdale, Wisconsin, Bobby (Michelle) Mezera of Dublin, Ohio and Brian (Dana) Mezera of Des Moines, Iowa; Grandchildren, Kaila Romo, Nicholas and Hunter Mezera and Connor and Seth Mezera; great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Alivia, Jack, Tealia and Vodika Romo.
Preceding Robert in death was his parents, Vincent and Emma Mezera; his siblings, Shirley Druecker and Russell Mezera; and one grandson, Brandon Romo.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm with a visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa.
Inurnment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery (318 Prospect Street, McGregor Iowa). After 2:00pm, please join us at Maggie’s Diner (28534 US Hwy 18, McGregor Iowa) for a casual gathering, food and drinks.
