Vivian Mae Lott, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Volga on April 3, 2026.
She was born on July 23, 1937, in Nashua, to George Wilbur Hanley and Gladys Leona McGowan. Vivian graduated from West High School, Waterloo in 1955.
On June 29, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Ray Lott at Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo.
She and Donald started their lives on a farm in La Porte City. Â Vivian worked as a secretary at Rath Packing Company, was an active member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and involved with various Saddle Clubs. Â Her most cherished role in life was being a mother.
Vivian loved writing letters, having meaningful conversations, and spending time with people. She also had a deep appreciation for flowers, gardening, baking, nature and hummingbirds.  She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and found great joy in her faith and in connecting with others.
Her home was her happy place, and she especially treasured visits from her children and family. Known as a wonderful conversationalist, Vivian had a gift for making others feel heard and valued.
She is lovingly remembered by her eight children: Daniel (Renelle) Lott, Diane Lott-Garcia, Michael Lott, Linda Lott, Joseph (Melissa) Lott, Samuel Lott, Thomas (Kimberly) Lott, and Luke(April) Lott; 17 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Ray Lott; and her brothers,Richard and Michael Beckner.
Vivian’s life was defined by her love for her family, her faith, and her kindness, compassion and generosity toward others.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Volga City Opera House, Volga, Iowa on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 1-4 pm.
