Sherrie Lynn Tehel, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026 at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center. Sherrie was born on April 13, 1947 in Postville, Iowa to Frank and Marilyn (Heins) Tehel.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Throughout the years, Sherrie cared for others including her younger brothers and sister, and later for the elderly as a nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Her greatest joy was crocheting many beautiful afghans for family and friends and sewing cross-stitch projects. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling in a league and watching her beloved Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Sherrie had a great sense of humor and loved joking with her family, other residents and staff. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Postville.
Sherrie is survived by her siblings, Frank D. Tehel of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Reggie (Jane) Tehel of Norwalk, Iowa and Sally (Barney) Bromelkamp of Monona, Iowa. She is also remembered fondly by her nieces, Kelly Bromelkamp (Casey Stickfort), Kimberly (Tom) Lott, Megan (Tony) Giudicessi, Brooke (Daniel) White, Kristin (Brandon) Costa and Neely (Matthew) Elstrodt; and nephew, Mike (Meredith) McCully. Sherrie had eleven-great nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marilyn Tehel; younger brother, Leo M. Tehel; grandparents, Frank and Nellie Tehel, Leo and Mabel Heins, and sister-in- law, Beverly Tehel.
A Private Memorial will be held at a later date.
