
Gerald Kent Lovell, 75, of Monona, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Mercy One Medical Center in Elkader, Iowa.
Gerald was born on November 15, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois, to Amy (Thornton) and Charles Woodrow Lovell. He attended school through the 11th grade and proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 1969 until November 1974.
Throughout his working years, Gerald was employed as a truck driver in the transportation industry. He also worked as a meat cutter, welder, tuck pointer, and electrician apprentice. He lived in several communities including Peoria, Illinois; Postville and Monona, where he resided for the past several years.
Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his daughter, Tara and his dog, Buddy. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature and the many friendships he made throughout his life.
Gerald is survived by his five children; his siblings, Donna Bass of Caledonia, Wisconsin, Richard Lovell of Decorah, Iowa, Jack Lovell of Peoria, Illinois, Mark Lovell of Michigan, Cathy Bickerton of Menomonie, Wisconsin and Jane Lovell of New Richmond, Wisconsin; along with other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jimmy Lovell in infancy, David Lovell in infancy, Mike Lovell and Robin Kansaku.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Monona Community Center in Monona, Iowa at a later date.
