Teresa Ann Forst, 89, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Teresa Ann was born November 8, 1936 to Alvin and Martha (Lewig) Scheckel at home on Wauzeka Ridge, Wisconsin. She graduated from Seneca High School with the Class of 1954.
On September 4, 1957, Teresa was united in marriage with Francis Joseph Forst at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Seneca, Wisconsin. Four children were born to this union. Teresa continued her education at Upper Iowa University, earning her B.S. in Management in 1997. Along with Francis, Teresa farmed near Giard, Iowa for over fifty-five years.
In her free time, Teresa loved sewing, quilting, reading fiction, and gardening. Work on the farm was complimented with multiple off-the-farm jobs. She will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, kindness, and placing family first.
Surviving Teresa are her four children, Cathleen (Alan) Friedlein of Monona, Iowa, Janet (Richard Riehle) Forst of Wilmington, Delaware, James Forst of McGregor, Iowa and Philip Forst of Woodbury, Minnesota; granddaughter, Katarina (David) Arterberry of Monona, Iowa;step-great grandson, Michael Arterberry; her siblings, Rosemary Boland of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Phillip (Susan) Scheckel of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Lawrence (Ann) Scheckel of Tomah, Wisconsin, Catharine Suiter of Janesville, Wisconsin, Rita Martin of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, and Diane (Owen) DuCharme of Seneca, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Margaret Scheckel of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Molly Scheckel of Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Joseph Forst in 2018; and her parents, Alvin and Martha (Lewig) Scheckel; two brothers, Edwin Scheckel and Bob Scheckel; and brothers-in-law, Joe Boland, Ardell Suiter and John Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa.
Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
