Donald Reinhold Lawrence Kregel, 88 of Luana, Iowa died Monday, March 7, 2022 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was born November 17, 1933 to Gustav and Martha (Voelz) Kregel in Monona, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Don attended Gunder School through the eighth grade and then farmed with his family until 1953. Donald was then drafted into the Army, serving twenty months in Germany before getting discharged in 1955.
Donald was united in marriage with Jane Ellen Bollman on February 7, 1956, celebrating sixty-six years together. Six children were born to this union. Together they farmed for thirty-four years. Throughout the years, Don hauled milk for Volney Cheese Company, On April 20, 1963 he started as an Auctioneer and retired from auctioneering on April 20, 2013, he also drove truck for Double LL for ten years over the road wide loads and then was a Janitor for St. Paul Lutheran Church for nine years. Don taught Sunday School, Bible School on and off over the years.
His love of life was his wife, Jane, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his auctioneering. Don loved to play cards, go dancing, fishing, horses, morning coffee at Quillins and joking and laughing with family and friends.
Surviving Donald are his wife, Jane Kregel of Luana, Iowa; six children, Donna (Robert) Staples of Monona, Iowa, Rod (Joyce) Kregel of Monona, Iowa, Ron (Beth) Kregel of Decorah, Iowa, Roger (Tonya) Kregel of Dumont, Iowa, Rein Kregel of Luana, Iowa and Darla (Dan) Keehner of Monona, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many more relatives and friends.
Preceding Donald in death were his parents, Gustav and Martha Kregel; three brothers, Gerald, Gordon (Lavon) and Eldon (Rita); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Helen Bollman; and in-laws, Jim and Marie Farmer, Raymond and Sandy Bollman, LeRoy and Fran Bollman and Fred Bollman
Visitation will be held from 9- 11 am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Mel Harris as the officiant.
Burial with Military Rites will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
