Dolores Ann Klingman, 87 of Volga, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Dolores Ann, the daughter of Arthur and Lucille (Bruns) Wagner was born on June 23, 1934 in Farmersburg Iowa. She was baptized on Oct. 21, 1934 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monona Iowa by Pastor Dawgs. Dolores was confirmed on November 16, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmersburg Iowa by Rev. Steege. Her confirmation blessing was Matthew 11 :28, “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Dolores graduated from Farmersburg High School on May 24, 1951.
On January 8, 1952 Dolores Ann was united in Marriage with LeRoy Klingman at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farmersburg by Rev. Steege and Rev. Gebhardt. To this union four children were born, Randy, Cindy, Ricky, Jon. Dolores and LeRoy were actively engaged in farming in and around the Volga area all their lives. Dolores assisted in all aspects of farming with LeRoy. After LeRoy’s death in 1976, she took over the farms and continued to keep the farms together. Dolores’ son Ricky soon joined the farming operation. When Dolores would say, “Ricky, I’ve been thinking”, Ricky would reply, “Mom you’re dangerous when you think.”
Dolores was an active member of Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin Iowa. She served on several church committees including, memorial, carpet, nominating, and was a member of the ELCA. She was a Bible School teacher, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. Dolores also served many years on the Clayton County Zoning board and for many years sold Longaberger baskets and pottery.
Dolores loved farming, her timbers, fishing, mushroom hunting and traveling. Dolores visited many states, the Bahamas, and made two trips to Germany with side trips to the Czech Republic and Salzburg Austria with her dear friend, Pat Smith. Most of all, Dolores loved her family.
Dolores is survived by her children, Cindy (Charles) Hofmockel of Arizona, Rick (Patricia) Klingman of Volga, Jon (Elizabeth) Klingman of Walcott; daughter-in-law, Laurie (Bruce) Lenth of Monona; ten grandchildren, Hilari, Nathan (Svetlana), Timothy (Tammy), Joshua (Heather) Klingman, Blaine Hofmockel, Troy (Barbara) Hofmockel, DeShanna (Chapman) Shadle, Steven Chapman, Traci and Tara Cheeseman; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special friends, Pete and Carol Kuene and their kids, Jamie and Lindsey, and their families, who called her “Ma” and grandma. Also mourning her passing are her brothers, Roger (Alice) Wagner and David Wagner; Sisters- in-law, Shirley Wagner and Caroline Klingman; brothers- in-law, Jerome Schultz and Lloyd Scherf; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
Preceding her in death were her husband, LeRoy in 1976; son, Randy in 1991; her parents; sister, Jean and brother Carl. sisters, Elaine Schultz and JoAnn Scherf; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Myron Ihde; brother, Donald Wagner, sister-in-law, Sherry Wagner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Corrine Roys; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leona and Robert Langmuir; and brother-in-law, Merlin Klingman.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Elgin Lutheran Church in Elgin, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Elgin Lutheran Church in Elgin, Iowa with Rev. David Coffin as the officiant.
Burial will follow at Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Iowa.
