Bryon “Buck” Dale Cowell, 55 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at Crossing Rivers Health. Bryon was born July 2, 1967 to Dale and Judy (Brownell) Cowell in Oelwein, Iowa. Buck grew up on the family farm near Wadena, Iowa. As a youth he was involved in 4-H and showing livestock, FFA, wrestling and football. He graduated from Valley of Elgin High School in 1985 and attended Iowa Lakes Community College for one year.
Throughout the years, Buck worked at Heinold Hog Buying Station, for S & G Materials in Coralville, IA as a dredge operator, drove truck for seventeen years and currently worked as a Truck Gate Security Officer for Securitas at 3M in Prairie du Chien. Buck loved his Harley, watching Iowa State and the Kansas City Chiefs and playing poker with his Wadena crew. He also enjoyed supporting his nieces and nephews and was proud of them. Buck was quick witted and enjoyed a good joke and most who knew him will tell you he had a big heart.
Surviving Buck are his beloved girlfriend, Terry Crowley of Burlington, Wisconsin; parents, Dale and Judy Cowell of Eastman, Wisconsin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie (Eric) Andersen of Maquoketa, Iowa and Becky (Travis) Kramer of Eastman, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, Grant, Madison, Brooke and Will Lapke, Regan, Lucas and Jacob Kramer; step-nieces, Sadie Andersen and Kathryn Andersen; aunts and uncles Don and Barb Stubbs, Jim and Jean Snively, Tom and Barb Cowell, Kay Havenstrite, Gary and Janice Brownell, Bill and Diane Brownell; and his Cowell and Brownell cousins.
Buck was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene and Dolores Brownell and Howard and Helen Cowell; uncle, Richard Brownell and cousin, Mike Snively.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Elgin, Iowa.
Funeral will be at 10:30 am on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Wadena Community Church in Wadena, Iowa with Pastor Rusty Phillips as the officiant.
Inurnment will follow at the Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, Iowa.
