Lorraine Evangeline Livingston, 95 of West Union, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa. Lorraine was born December 13, 1927 to Ernest and Gladys (Bergland) Larson in Elgin, Iowa. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1945 and continued her education at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
Lorraine taught in a one room school house for a year. She was united in marriage with Donald E. Livingston on June 1, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She was primarily a homemaker, but also was a substitute teacher in Sedalia, Missouri and also babysat for other families. She loved caring for children, enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, sending letters, and greeting cards and playing the piano and organ. Lorraine was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, President of the Women’s Association and Women’s Circle and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Sedalia as well as, Southminister Presbyterian Church of St. Louis. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and taught Sunday School.
Surviving Lorraine are her children, Phillip (Anne) Livingston of St. Louis, Missouri, Kim (Cindy) Livingston of Elgin, Iowa and Linda Smith of Aurora, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brian (Kelli) Livingston, Christopher (Jeanene) Livingston, Michelle (Daniel) Brugere, Joseph (Heather) Stobie, Allison Tendall and Nicole (Caleb) Capps; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Quario of West Union, Iowa and Via (Larry) Kisner of Parkersburg, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Livingston; two children, Pam and John; five grandchildren that died in infancy, Cam, Billy, Leisa, John Michael and Bruce; her parents. Ernest and Gladys Larson; brother, Kenneth Larson and a sister, Betty Seitz.
A Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Don Best as the officiant.
Burial will follow at the Wadena Cemetery in Wadena, Iowa.
