Gail Deloris Herman, 87 of Clermont, Iowa passed away Monday, October 28, 2024 at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Gail was born May 23, 1937 to Lyle and Mildred (Woodson) Mabb in Clermont, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church. Gail attended school in the Clermont area.
On December 19, 1959, Gail was united in marriage with Sylvan Herman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Throughout the years, Gail volunteered at the meal site and received a volunteer award from the Governor. She also did childcare for many other families as she loved the children. Gail enjoyed dancing, playing cards, everything Elvis and watching fast pitch softball in Clermont. Her greatest joy and love in life was spending time with her family.
Surviving Gail are four of her children, Judy (Marvin) Larson of West Union, Iowa, David (Samantha) Herman of Elko New Market, Minnesota, Becky Pritchard of Graham, North Carolina and Suzan Herman of Clermont, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Jenny Herman of Hawkeye, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Mervil Mabb of Postville, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gail in death were her husband, Sylvan Herman on February 22, 1968; son, Walter “Wally” Herman on September 23, 2019; granddaughter, Amy Larson on August 31, 2007; brother, Gene Mabb; and three sisters, Wanda Mabb, Joyce Ramaker and Jo Ann Dreier.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa. There will also be a one-hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa with Rev. Mike Erickson as the officiant.
There will be a Graveside Committal at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.
