Sharon Kay Wedo, Elgin, Iowa, December 23, 2024

Sharon Kay Wedo, 69, of Elgin, Iowa died Monday, December 23, 2024 at Allen Unity Point Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa. She was born September 8, 1955 to Harold and Wilma (Carpenter) Tempel in Webster City, Iowa.

Sharon was united in marriage with Larry Wedo on October 16, 1999 at the United Methodist Church, Elgin. She brought two children into this union, Justin and Mathew along with Larry’s two children, Billie and Wade. Sharon worked for Aramark at Upper Iowa University from 1999 to 2022. She also worked for Electrolux in Webster City from 1985 to 1997. She attended the United Methodist Church in Elgin. Sharon enjoyed flowers, birds, sewing, crocheting, quilting, apples and cooking (she made the best banana bread). She also liked watching Upper Iowa Basketball games and was an Iowa State Fan.

Sharon is survived by her husband Larry Wedo of Elgin; her children, Justin “Jake” (Angela) Winkler of Boone, Mathew (Abbii) Winkler of Eagle Grove, Billie (Nathanial) Dent of Liscomb and Wade Wedo of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren, Lydia, Katelyn and Evan Winkler, Lane, Thomas and McKaylee Winkler, Damon and Phranki Barkhaus, Jordin (Tanner) Carolus, Drew, Jackson and Demi Wedo, Brandon Barton and Emilia and Violet Dent; two great-grandchildren, Adaline and Avery Carolus; her brother, Harold (Pat) Tempe of Urbandale; brother-in-law, Terry (Elizabeth) Wedo; sister-in-law, Tawnia Tempel of Webster City; several nieces and nephews and her two cats, Putt-Putt and Lucy Bug.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Michael Winkler in infancy; brother, Larry Tempel and her parents-in-law, Vernon and Virginia Wedo.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a later date at United Methodist Church with an inurnment at Elgin Cemetery both in Elgin, Iowa.
