Barbara Ellen Peterson, Elkader, Iowa, March 17, 2025

 

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Peterson who passed away peacefu

lly, surrounded by her family on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Edgewood Convalescent Center. She was born August 1, 1941, in Iowa City, to Walter and Margaret (Monahan) Pritchard.

She was united in marriage to Donald Peterson on February 26, 1960, at Evansdale, IA. Three children were born to this union. The couple later divorced.

Following high school, she took classes at N.I.C.C. and became a certified Med-Aide at the County Home, Scenic Acres and other nursing homes.

Barbara was always a hard worker. She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, baking – especially Norwegian baked goods. Barbara also enjoyed sewing, and making crafts with her friends. She was a long time member of Norway Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ray (Cathy)Peterson, Elkader, Jay Peterson, Strawberry Point, Kay Kluesner (Lloyd Funk) Elkader; grandchildren, Danny Bushaw, Amanda Burgin, Derek Bushaw (Kendra), Justin (Ashley) Peterson, Jason (Sydnie) Peterson, Brittany (Craig) Parzych,

Amber (Andy) Kemp, Maci Kluesner, Carly Kluesner; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Ilo Mae Corbin, Marion (Marvin) Vansickle, Brad (Melinda) Pritchard, Rodney (Patty) Pritchard many nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Peterson, granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann; siblings,  Amos Pritchard, Leslie Pritchard, Lyle Pritchard, Richard Pritchard, Alfred Pritchard, Gary Pritchard, Robert Pritchard; and ex-husband Donald Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, and on Friday, one hour before Funeral Services at 11 am. Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate

Interment will follow at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf.
