Elvin Ole Anderson, Elgin, Iowa, June 2, 2025

Elvin Ole Anderson, age 86, of Elgin, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Elvin was born on June 11, 1938, in West Union, Iowa, to Clair and Evelyn (Paulson) Anderson. He was baptized in the Presbyterian Church and graduated from high school with the Class of 1956. On June 26, 1959, he was united in marriage with Sandra Elaine Clark. Together, they built a life centered around family and farming.

In 1972, Elvin purchased a farm south of Castalia, where he dedicated himself to milking dairy cows and raising crops. A true farmer, Elvin enjoyed horseback riding, trail rides, driving his team of horses and visiting with neighbors and friends. Following the passing of his beloved Sandra, Elvin married Irene Delores (Vagts) Iben in 2014. The couple moved to Elgin in 2017, where Elvin enjoyed his retirement years.

Elvin was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and deep love for his family.

He is survived by his children: Bruce (Sue) Anderson of Decorah, Iowa, and Brenda (Duane) Taylor of Ossian, Iowa; grandchildren: Anntonette (Chris) Meyer, Jennifer (Christian) Off, Christopher (Amanda) Anderson, Wyatt Anderson, Michael (Fannie Borntreger) Miller, Matthew Miller, and Danae (Tryston Locke) Taylor; great-grandchildren: Savannah Solheim, Bridget Meyer, Ivan Off, Raylee Anderson, Elvin Anderson, and Lee Miller; siblings: Harlen (Margaret) Anderson, Kerwin (Marlys) Anderson, Irene Gusta, and Colleen Stohr; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Elvin was preceded in death by his wives, Sandra Elaine Anderson and Irene Delores Anderson; his son, Bryan Anderson; his parents, Clair and Evelyn Anderson; siblings: Vernon (Glenda) Anderson, Carolyn (Wayne) Havenstrite, Burton Anderson, and Steven Anderson; and one brother-in-law, Gus Gusta.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Burnham-Wood- Grau Funeral Home in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one-hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday June 9, 2025 at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa with Pastor Zach Smith as the officiant.

Burial will follow at West Union City Cemetery in West Union, Iowa.

We have been blessed with many memories with our dad, grandpa and great grandpa. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, acts of kindness and support we have received during this time caring for dad.
