Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Rose, Elgin, Iowa, June 10, 2025

Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Rose, 67 of rural Elgin, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at her home in Elgin. Cindy was born March 16, 1958 in Charles City, Iowa to Howard and Margaret (Wendt) Maurer. She graduated from North High School in West Union, Iowa with the class of 1976.

Cindy was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Terry Rose on November 11, 1978. They moved to what would become their lifetime farm home in rural Elgin and raised a family of three children, Megan, Jon and Joe. After working various positions in the community and while her children were still young, she decided to pursue a career in nursing. Cindy graduated from Northeast Iowa Community College in 1990 and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She particularly enjoyed spending time with new moms and babies.

Above all, Cindy loved her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, reading and playing with them. Cindy enjoyed family gatherings, baking cookies, and working in her flower garden. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, “Mee Maw” and cherished friend.

Surviving Cindy are her husband, Terry Rose; daughter, Megan (Jeremy) Whittle; sons, Jonathan (Jennifer) Rose and Joseph (Jenny) Rose; grandchildren Chase, Cashton, Charlie, Hal, Mabel, Ruby, Jack, Vera, and precious baby on the way; siblings, David Maurer, Larry Maurer, Greg Maurer, and Sylvia Mork.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Maurer; sister, Becky; parents-in-law, Charlie and Betty Lou Rose. She is also survived by her extended family and beloved friends.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday June 20, 2025 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Elgin, Iowa.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
