Karen Ann Engelhardt, Manchester, formerly of St. Olaf, June 16, 2025

Karen Ann Engelhardt, 85, of Manchester, formerly St. Olaf, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Society in Manchester. She was born August 1, 1939, in St. Olaf to Myron and Nettie (Larson) Lindroth.

She graduated from Central Community High School, with the Class of 1957. On April 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Roy (Roxie) Engelhardt at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf. Three children were born to this union.

Karen was a homemaker; worked at various jobs in Elkader, and the cheese factory in St. Olaf. She was a lifelong and very active member of the Norway Lutheran Church and WELCA.

She spent many years singing in the choir and volunteering at church. Karen and Roxie spent most of their lives on their farm in rural St. Olaf. They sold the farm in 2006 and moved to Manchester for several years. From there, Karen moved to the Ellen Kennedy Center in Dyersville, Iowa.

Karen enjoyed gardening, canning, preparing Norwegian goodies for the Holidays, caring for her family and playing the piano. Karen’s greatest joys were being a homemaker and caring for those around her.

Survivors include her daughters and families; Julie (Denny) Kingdon of Guttenberg, Jean Ann (Doug ”Swede” Svendsen) Engelhardt of Alta, Jennifer (Matt) Kreeb of Dyersville; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenny Lindroth and Rodney Lindroth; a sister in infancy, Marilyn Jean Lindroth and her husband, Roy “Roxie” Engelhardt.

The family would like to thank the people at The Ellen Kennedy Center, St. Croix Hospice and Marietta’s Place at the Good Neighbor Home for the excellent care given to Karen.

Visitation: Friday, July 11, 2025 – 4:00 PM  to 7:00 PM at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf and one hour before service time on Friday.

Funeral Services: Saturday, July 12, 2025 – 11:00 AM at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf.  Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate.

Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
