Phyllis Dilley, 65, of Waucoma, Iowa passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her home in rural Waucoma. Phyllis Jean, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Walvatne) Johansen, was born December 16, 1951 in West Union, Iowa. She graduated from West Union High School. In 1975, Phyllis was united in marriage with Pat Dilley in Redmond, Oregon. They lived in Oregon for several years before returning to Iowa. Phyllis worked in the bakery for Bostrom’s, Moore’s, and Quillin’s Grocery Store in West Union for many years, before retiring in April of 2015.
Phyllis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baking. She was very good with crafts, particularly decorating deer antlers and she loved to bowl.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Pat Dilley, of Waucoma, Iowa; three children, Patrick “Chip” Dilley, Jr. of Manchester, Iowa; Michael (Eva) Dilley of Stafford, Virginia; and Kevin (Kari) Dilley of Independence, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tristan, Gunnar, Harbin, Talexa, Keegan, Trendan, and Tierany; one brother, Leo (Louise) Johansen of Elgin, Iowa; and Mary (John) Shipton of Clermont, Iowa.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Irene; and her siblings, Millard Johansen, Lila Langreck, and a brother and sister who died in infancy.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Event Center in Waucoma, Iowa.
