Nancy Jean Aschom, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, November 10, 2018

Nancy Jean Aschom, 76, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Mayo Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Nancy was born September 26, 1942 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin to John and Margaret (Long) Gremore. Nancy graduated from St. John’s Grade School and St. Mary’s Academy, both in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Nancy was united in marriage with Norbert Aschom, Jr. on April 18, 1964 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Two daughters were born to this union. Nancy worked at Piggly Wiggly/ Dick’s Supermarket in Prairie du Chien for about forty-five years as a checker. People still talk about how much they miss her at the register.

Nancy’s emphasis was on the family, which she loved more than anything. She was a terrific cook and baker. Nancy was active her entire life at St. John’s Church and Prairie Catholic School. She enjoyed her flower gardens and loved sitting on the front porch with her coffee. She liked to go for rides and especially enjoyed farmer’s markets, home-made breads and farm fresh eggs.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Norb of Prairie du Chien; two daughters, Amy (Jeff) Krohn of Prairie du Chien and Sara Heiss of Janesville, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Bailey Ottaway of Prairie du Chien and Grace, Miles and Isaac Heiss of Janesville; four sisters, Janet (George) Kahler of Prairie du Chien, Karen Bierman and Sharon Pettit, both of Janesville and Christine Gremore of Round Lake, Illinois; and one brother, John (Mary) Gremore of Janesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Gremore.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Fellowship Hall in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family in Prairie du Chien with Rev. James Weighner as the celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
