Darwin Richard Linderbaum, Ossian, Iowa, November 13, 2018

Darwin Richard Linderbaum, 64, of Ossian, Iowa died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born July 1, 1954 to Arthur Frank and Frieda Marie (Ihde) Linderbaum in Postville, Iowa. Darwin graduated with the class of 1972 from South Winneshiek High School.

Darwin was united in marriage with Cindy Vagts on April 10, 1976 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa. Two children were born to this union. Darwin took over the welding business that his dad, Arthur had started. He would often tell customers that he could fix anything but a broken heart. He also drove the school bus for South Winneshiek School District for sixteen years. Darwin volunteered with the Ossian Ambulance Squad. In his spare time, Darwin would split wood for his wood burning stove, watching the trains as they passed by, playing cards and spending time on the farm. He enjoyed time spent and conversations held at the Linderbaum Auto Board Room.  Darwin was not a fan of Iowa winters. Perhaps one of his greatest joys was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Darwin is survived by Cindy Linderbaum of Ossian, Iowa; his children, Tina (Brian) Jordahl of Byron, Minnesota and Scott (Amber) Linderbaum of Elgin, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ellyn Jordahl, Nicolas Jordahl and Lenya Linderbaum; one sister, Eleanor (Robert) Drew of Ossian, Iowa.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
