Jean Ann Wolter, 90 of Luana Iowa passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on April 4, 1935 in McGregor, Iowa, Jean was the daughter of John and Azailia Corlett. Jean had five sisters, Norma, Francis “Corky”, Ivanelle “Ivy”, Marylin, and Mary and one brother, John “Bud”. Jean married the love of her life, Dwain Wolter on January 31, 1953 in McGregor, Iowa. They were happily married for 73 years….73 YEARS!
Jean graduated from McGregor High School where she was a standout basketball player. Jean helped with her father’s business “Trash and Treasurers” and served as the bookkeeper for Dwain’s trucking line and livestock buying station, but her most important job was being a mother, aunt and grandmother to her entire family. Jean was involved in various youth programs for her children, church and Sunday school activities, as well as community activities.
She enjoyed watching sports, gardening, collecting cookbooks, and visiting with family and friends. Jean was an amazing cook, with recipes often published in cookbooks. More than anything, she loved her family and the love of her life, Dwain.
She is survived by her husband, Dwain; son, Laine Wolter of Oxford Junction, Iowa, son, Rick (Janeen) Wolter of La Crescent, Minnesota, son, Mark (Krista) Wolter of Johnston, Iowa, daughter, Susan (Ted) Nus of Ankeny, Iowa and son, Dennis (Melissa) Wolter of Keokuk, Iowa; Her grandchildren, Wade (Kori) Wolter, Jake Wolter, Alicia Wolter, Ben (Caitlyn) Wolter, Alexis (Ben) Porepp, Jeremiah (Molly) Nus, Kendall (fiancé Connor Boger) Nus, Damon Wolter, Alex Wolter, and Abby Jean Wolter; Her great-grandchildren, Alaina Wolter, Landry Wolter, Shelby Wolter, Lena Wolter, and Graham Wolter.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her sisters, Norma Krohn, Francis “Corky” Peterson, Ivanelle “Ivy” Sauer, Marylin Ellis, and Mary Bohlen; her brother, John “Bud” Corlett; brother-in-law, Milbert Kroh; brother-in-law, Chuck Sauer, and sister-in-law, Connie Corlett.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
