Lois Jean Schnuelle, 90 of Castalia, Iowa passed away Monday, March 23, 2026 at Ossian Care Center in Ossian, Iowa. Lois was born February 6, 1936, to Robert B and Mary (Bigler) Wettleson in Postville, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. Lois attended McKinnley #6 country school and graduated from Postville High School.
On October 15, 1955, Lois was united in marriage with Raymond Schnuelle in Gunder, Iowa. Four children were born to this union. Lois worked at Iowa Turkey Products for over 30 years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where she helped teach Sunday School and belonged to the Mary Martha Circle. Lois’ greatest joy was spending time with her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family holidays and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs play. A memorable trip was to the Grand Canyon when she turned 80. Lois also enjoyed flowers, gardening, shopping and going for drives, and she loved visiting with people.
Surviving Lois are three of her children, Randy (Julie) Schnuelle, Renee (Jeff) Hanken and Ricky (Myra) Schnuelle all of Castalia, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one due this fall; brother, Roger (Carol) Wettleson of Postville, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Karen Schnuelle of Castalia, Iowa, Judy Koopman of Dalton, Wisconsin, Judy Schnuelle of South Bend, Indiana and Beverly Schnuelle of Castalia, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Schnuelle; son, Rodney Schnuelle; parents, Robert and Mary Wettleson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fritz and Irene Schnuelle; sister, Mary Ann Anderson; brother, Robert Wayne (Wanda) Wettleson; in-laws, Ed and Betty Schnuelle, Donald Schnuelle, Allan Schnuelle, Clinton Schnuelle and Arvin Koopman; and her nephew, Grant Koopman.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday March 27, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa with Rev. Daryl Schultz as the officiant.
Interment will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery in Castalia, Iowa.
