Mathew Donald Krull, 55 of West Union, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at his home. He was born June 7, 1971 to Donald and Kathleen (Staples) Krull in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Woden-Crystal Lake High School in Crystal Lake, Iowa with the class of 1989, where he was very involved in speech.
Mathew worked in food service at a variety of places including Upper Iowa University and Hardees. He enjoyed playing video games and board games, reading comic books, being a story teller and dressing up as Santa Claus at Christmas. Mathew was engaged to Kerry Halva before her passed in 2010. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Surviving Mathew are his parents, Donald and Kathleen Krull; children, Danny Halva (Coltn Benson), Tracy Halva, Savannah Halva and Caroline (Lee Christopher) Halva; one granddaughter, Ivie Christopher; brother, Jason Krull; nieces and nephews, Emily (Javier) Moreno, Noah Krull and Lani Krull.
Mathew was preceded in death by his fiance’, Kerry Halva; Kerry’s parents, Gary and Karen Halva; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026 at West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Terry Landsgaard as the officiant.
