Arlene Olson, 94 of Clermont, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Stoney Brook in West Union, Iowa. Arlene was born April 25, 1932 to James Perry and Agnes (Kerr) Medberry on the farm, Highland Township, Clayton County, Volga, Iowa. She attended country school for two years and grade school in Volga from 2nd thru 9th grade. Arlene’s family moved to Elgin, Iowa in the fall of 1948 and she attended Elgin Highschool and graduated with the class of 1950. After graduation, Arlene became a bookkeeper for Falb & Light Implement Company for five years.
On November 7, 1953, Arlene was united in marriage with Quinton Richard Olson at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa. Quinton left for the service in December of 1953 until September of 1955. Arlene was a hardworking farmwife and mother of two children. She enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables she grew. Arlene liked working with the youth and was active in the church. Arlene and Quinton were sponsors of Luther League, chaperoned kids to Luther League Convention in Miami in 1961. Arlene assisted Quinton with 4-H and chaperoned 4H exchange trips. Arlene also was the director for 3 act plays connected to the Ice Cream Social at East Clermont Lutheran Church in the Summer.
After retirement, Arlene and Quinton enjoyed traveling together. For many summers, they traveled and camped along the North Shore of Lake Superior in Two Harbors, Minnesota. They also treasured time spent with their grandchildren, attending their summer activities and cheering them on at countless ballgames.
Surviving Arlene are her two children, Teresa Olson of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Terry (Brenda) Olson of Postville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Ty (Jessica Hein) Koehn of McGregor, Iowa, Traci (Cole) Muhlenbruch of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Kylee (Travis) Uhlenhake of Decorah, Iowa and Kynzee (Ashley) Olson of Postville, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Tate and Triggyn Koehn, Mac and Myles Muhlenbruch and Levi, Logan and Lainey Uhlenhake.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Olson; parents, James and Agnes Medberry; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Verna Medberry; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Rose Olson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am to 10:45 am on Friday, August 21, 2026 at East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont, Iowa with Rev. Ron Roberts and Tom Denney as the officiants.
A private family inurnment will take place at East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clermont, Iowa.
