Luetta Grace Schroeder, 97, of Castalia, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Hospice of Mercy House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Luetta was born on September 29, 1928, to Henry and Hattie (Schatz) Mittelsted. On April 17, 1949, she was united in marriage with Eugene Schroeder at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa. Three children were born to this union.
Eugene and Luetta farmed three miles south of Castalia, where they built their life together and raised their family. Luetta enjoyed working in her flower beds and garden, taking pride in the beauty she created around her home.
Luetta is survived by her son, Doyle (Bonnie) Schroeder of Castalia, Iowa; daughters, Eunice (Ray) Paul of Independence, Iowa, and Lori Schroeder of North Liberty, Iowa; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Mittelsted; and sister, Bonnie Burger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hattie Mittelsted, and her husband, Eugene Schroeder.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 2pm at Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa with Rev. Daryl Schultz as the officiant.
