Virgil William Fette, 86, of St. Olaf, Iowa, died Friday, November 22, 2019. Virgil was born April 25, 1933, in Elkader, Iowa, to Albert and Rosina (Glawe) Fette. He attended elementary school in St. Olaf up to eighth grade..
Virgil was united in marriage to Dolores Geisler at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Prairie du Chien, WI, on October 6, 1953. He enjoyed farming all of his life until his retirement in 1995. Virgil enjoyed dancing, playing cards, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Virgil was a member of the Norway Lutheran Church and enjoyed his church family. He served on the board of the St. Olaf Co-op and St. Olaf Feed and Supply.
He is survived by James of St. Olaf, Diana (Brad) Butikofer of Bend, OR, Steve (Julie) of Coggon and Lori (Todd) Balekos of Monona; one sister, Eileen Peterson of Gunder; two brothers, Ronald (Peggy) Fette of New London, Wisconsin, Richard (Dianne) Fette of Elkader; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a special friend, Marlene Glawe of St. Olaf.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dolores; his sister, Joyce Muller; brothers-in-law, John Muller and Warren Peterson
Visitation: 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf and after 10:00 until service time at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf. Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate.
Interment: Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf.
