Dr. Henry Joseph “Pete” Kautman, Jr., 72, of McGregor, Iowa died Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Henry Joseph was born February 27, 1947 to Henry J. and Helen M. (Cowell) in McGregor, Iowa. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School and attended eight years of college at Iowa State University graduating in 1972 to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Pete worked as an Inspector for the USDA for many years. He loved traveling and the Mississippi River which he lived by. Pete enjoyed investments and spending time with Mary and his dog, Dusty and Cat, Sergeant Henry.
Pete is survived by his loving companion, Mary Greener of McGregor, Iowa; three siblings, Thomas Kautman of McGregor, Iowa, Kathryn Kautman of New Hope, Minnesota and Kris Kautman of Mason City, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Pete in death was his parents, Henry J. and Helen M. Kautman, Sr.; and his siblings, Ronald Kautman, Donald Kautman, Faye Kautman in infancy, Janice Ehrlich, Jack Kautman, Moejo Kautman and special god daughter Karri Kautman.
A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona, Iowa.
