Shaun Jacob Mohs, 16, of Marquette, Iowa, died Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Shaun was born on September 15, 2006, in Prairie du Chien, WI, to his mother, Misty Jones.
Shaun was a sophomore at MFL Mar Mac Community School. He enjoyed spending time with everyone he loved. He lived to make others happy. He had the brightest smile and the most infectious laugh. He lit up every room he entered. He loved his dogs, school, his family and all of his many friends.
Shaun enjoyed fishing, playing cards, beading necklaces and making rubber band friendship bracelets. Shaun had a hard life and encountered many battles but he took it all in stride with a smile on his face. He touched everyone’s heart. He had a heart of gold and his soul was filled with the purest joy. He will be missed by all.
Survivors include his mother, Misty Jones, Marquette; grandparents, Tammy Jones, McGregor and Joe Jones, Harpers Ferry; his aunt, Lacinda Jones, McGregor, his cousin, Peyton Regal, McGregor and many other family members and friends.
Shaun was preceded in death by his great-grandparent’s, John Leo and Dorothy Jones and Beverly Pazour; great-great-grandmother, Nettie Hill; great-aunt’s, Jackie Pazour, Vickie Young and Cindy Scarff and great-uncle, Ed Hill.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 2-8 pm at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa.
A public celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 10:30 am at the MFL Mar Mac Middle School Gymnasium in McGregor, Iowa, with the Rev. William Gentry officiating. The service will be live streamed at https://youtube.com/live/jK1BX_Epy78
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to Shaun’s mother, Misty Jones.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa, is handling the arrangements for the family.
