
Warren Wayne Jencks, 79, of Hawkeye, Iowa, passed away at his home on Friday, May 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Warren was born on February 13, 1947, to Virgil and Ruth (Carey) Jencks in New Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from North High in May of 1965. He joined the 133rd National Guard Infantry and served his country from 1965- August 1971. On April 20, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sandra Raatz at the Randalia Methodist Church. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage and raised three children, and eight grandchildren, (Danielle and Taylar Jencks) (Megan, Seth and Kelsey Jencks) and (Joel, Jenna and Jesse Grimes) all who brought great joy to his life.
Warren dedicated his life to farming. He farmed alongside his father, Virgil, until his passing, and later continued farming with his sons until his retirement. Farming was not just his livelihood, but his passion and a legacy.
In his free time, Warren enjoyed fishing with close friends and could often be found at the “Round Table” or attending Saturday morning coffee gatherings at Wilbur Ford, where he cherished visiting and sharing stories.
In retirement, Warren and Sandy enjoyed cruising together on their Can-Am, making the most of their time side by side.
Warren will be remembered for his smile that was always visible wherever he went, a strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the many friendships he built throughout his life.
Warren is survived by his strong and faithful wife, Sandy, his sister, his children, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as friends that he has cherished for a lifetime.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A celebration of Warren’s life will be held at the Hawkeye Community Hall on June 14th, 2026 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
