Getting to know people and their families was great. I saw kids grow up, get married and have a family of their own. I held babies while mothers wrote their checks for groceries. I always memorized the sale items as they weren’t keyed into the register at that time. I always knew exactly how many Tootie Rolls to send for the kids in each family. It was a wonderful place to work. We were family at the store.”
