Dale Michael Tieskoetter, Monona, Iowa, August 26, 2024

Dale Michael Tieskoetter, 68, was called home on August 26, 2024, in Monona, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born on March 21, 1956, to Paul and Marie (Shindelar) Tieskoetter in Decorah, Iowa.  He grew up on his family’s farm in Ossian, Ia where he learned many lessons he carried with him throughout his life. He was baptized and received his First Communion at St. Francis DeSales in Ossian Ia. He attended and graduated from South Winn High School in 1974. With a natural talent and love for building, Dale pursued a degree in carpentry, graduating from Area One Technical School in the spring of 1975. It was there that he met his beloved wife Barbara (Severson) Tieskoetter.  For 40+ years, Dale worked in the carpentry business, where his craftsmanship left a lasting mark on the homes and hearts of many.

In his personal life, Dale found his greatest joy in his family. On February 21, 1976, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Severson) Tieskoetter at Saint Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian Ia, with whom he shared forty-eight wonderful years. Early in their marriage, they moved to Farmersburg, Iowa, where they raised three children: Tracy (Christopher) Clair, Angela (Justin) Wyse, and Matthew (Jessica) Tieskoetter. Although Dale cherished friends from every chapter of his life, it was in Farmersburg where he met friends who became like family, standing by him and Barb through both the good times and the challenges.

Dale was also a proud grandfather to William Clair, Logan, Layla, and Owen Wyse, and Jonathan Tieskoetter, with another grandson expected any day now. His love and devotion to his family were unmatched, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.

Dale was also a pillar of his communities.  He volunteered his time as a Farmersburg firefighter, a Farmerburg council member, a Saint Patricks Catholic Church council member, a Knight’s of Columbus member, a Farmersburg first responder and EMT.

One of Dale’s greatest joys was working and spending time around his property—mowing, fishing, building docks, and constructing buildings. He loved to sit outside and enjoy a nice day, and he also took pleasure in hunting, a good game of cards, a spirited debate, or a hearty laugh.  He loved Hawkeye Football, following the weather patterns and was always ready to talk politics with his oldest daughter.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as his eight siblings: Gerry (Jeanne), LouAnn (Tony) Langreck, Jim (Sally), Leon (Sandi), Mark (Marlene), Paul (Barb),  Jane (Ron) Schmitt and Luke (Judy). His family was his foundation, and the bonds he shared with his siblings were a testament to his generous and caring spirit.

He is also survived and will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law Lucille Severson, sister-in-law Ruth (Richard) Delaney, five brothers-in-law, Eugene (Becky), Ray (Luann), Gerald (Joanne), Kent (Kathy), Lee (Julie Embriano) Severson and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Father-in-law Eldon Severson, infant brother Francis, and sister-in-law Lois Tieskoetter.

Dale’s legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren and the countless memories they shared. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished brother and a skilled craftsman who took immense pride in his work and family.
